[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
For my first post here, I have gone back a little ways. I took this last summer, mostly as an experiment in close up photography. This was taken using my 28mm lens and was shot from just a few cm away. If you know me from TE, you know I love bokeh (blurred background). This shot came to mind because of a discussion I had tonight with Luko, about the ability of a wide angle lens to deliver bokeh. It is difficult, but if you are close enough to your subject, it is quite possible.

Great close up Darren.

I like the contrast beetween the sharp flower and background blur.

Well done

Nice DOF, i like how the bright colours are isolated in the foreground and the slightly unusual postion of the flower is ok here i think. Great shot, well done.

Lovely Macro Darren! Welcome to TL!
Nice contrast between background blur and sharp flower! Works perfectly!

Hey, Darren, you already know my opinion about your shot ;-), ain't that a nice bokeh too?

Bit I 'm amazed with the sensation of the flower floating over a field of green, very nice too you managed to hide the stem, this is the feature that in fact gives the floating sensation.

Well, I think, we'll see some other wide angle shots by Mr.Bokeh.

This is good Darren. It is great to see so many different things appearing on TL. The flower appears to be floating on air. The contrast with the green background is good. I am not familiar with "bokeh" but I guess I know what you mean.

The blur works wonders here, Darren. I also like the addition of the slight blur on the edges of the flower itself. It gives it a unique, artistic look and feel that I find relaxing and pleasant.

Darren, I really like your wide angle work here, makes the subject interesting and as Luko pointed out already makes the flower float in a sea of green. Any idea what kind of flower this is? Personally, I'm not one to go out and shoot flowers, but this is done pretty well. Nice first post and something WAY different from you. Nice to see another side to your photography...hope for more!

Great macro. I've never seem a shot using 1.8 before. This is amazing what you have done here. Good composition placing the flower at the bottom left hand corner, as it works really well with the rest of the frame being the green background.

What is bokeh? Could you explain.

Oops! Points tomorrow... Done

very beautiful Darren...as if caught at the moment of flying or falling down on a bed of grass..
regarding wide lens+macro (I am not very technical) ; I started using the office Nikon 5700 recently and its macro facilities are both in tele and in wide..and I mostly tried the wide lens combination...
