Jazz ... ... .. ..
Classical Jazz, Dixieland Jazz, Trad Jazz: where would they be without the deep rich sounds of a well-played double bass?

I've attended a few Jazz Festivals in the last little while, but have not yet had a chance to process the pictures (I am hoping to do so later this week). In the meantime, this is one from our winter touring!

Thanks for taking a look and have yourselves a wonderful week.

B-)

Nicely select that way you crop it! The way the wood reflect a little light from the scene and history of it's long adventure on it's skin show that instrument is not young! It give a warm life in supplement! Sound of experienced instrument is the most of time better... Like a good wine :)

Hi Silke,
Very nice composition showing the old wood of the double bass that must have been used quite often. Great colors and sharpness.

Hi Silke,

It's only seen and heard in jazz presentation . . Yes, it's deep bass and I love this frequency to my ear . . Soft but solid . . Great presentation .. Excellent compo and very well captured . .

Tfs,
Tjutjut

Hello Silke,

When I saw this, I was not sure what it was nor did I feel very positive about it! And, being a friend, I always feel you have to be honest!

However, having great respect for your ability, I studied it for a while, and my opinion changed! Here, less is more! The brave cropping has allowed the message to begin with the eyes, but then can be completed by the brain! Clever framing too!

Well done my friend!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Silke,
Lovely photo of the instrument :
good compo of the instument - pitty for the hand, very beautiful warm colours.

They say that jazz is loved by the more intelligent people ( statistics )

Hello Silke,
Interesting framing; tight, bold!
Warm attractive colours, fine details in the instrument!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Oh Silke, I can almost hear it - I just love Jazz, that is to say every kind of Jazz except for the very modern version.
Deep and rich could also be a description of the wood used to make the double bass. We visited a shop that specializes in wood for instruments and the prices were extreme, but all very interesting.
TFS - wouldn't it be nice if you could paste a bit of music under this picture....

Els

Great capture - excellent detail of this moment!
Best wishes,
Achim

Sugerente imagen Silke.

Hallo Silke,
ein klasse Foto, man hört fast den Kontrabass, ausgezeichnete Idee, gefällt mir sehr, gratuliere.
Liebe Grüsse

Hi Silke,
Excelent Shot very detailed...
Colour combination is very good..
TFS..

ciao . . .

I love the scratches and dents on the cello, or is it a double bass? Has a sweet old feeling to it. Also, the hand and fingers bring a human quality.

It's fun in orchestral rehearsals to see the instruments of the various musicians. I remember at Indiana University the value of some of the beautiful new instruments blew me away . . . and they still had to pay for their education on top of that . . . and so few would find professional jobs! That was a long time ago, so I can't imagine what the same instruments would cost today.

It's interesting to consider what amazing things human fingers can do on an instrument . . . yet other human fingers can go to war and do such devastating damage . . . irony!

Thanks for the mood image and memories.

Richard
