[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
With piercing eyes he stared at me... perhaps annoyed at my taking advantage of his cold and wet predicament. Everytime I take pictures such as this I always tell myself that what I have infront of my camera are not just photo opportunities but real people. Perhaps by *taking advantage* of the moment I will be able to bring more light into their plight.

He is the same Tboli boy in Braving The Rain. Like most indigenous people in the Philippines, he is living under poverty level, unable to catch up with the fast changing world. A lot are displaced from their own ancestral domains.

I took a few shots of him, he lingered around that area for a while.

He did wave goodbye when he went home. Im pretty sure he managed to smile when he waved...

PP work:
- Curves (to *overexposed* the background)
- contrast
- Desaturate (as suggested by my good friend Shogun)

Good crop and composition, I must say I prefer the workshop since it takes care of the overexposed top part and brings out more of the textural details in the water.

Well seen!

Great B&W. The overexposed background is so appropriate here, brings out the main subject like its out of the real world, suspended in time. Excellent POV. I enjoyed your note too. Its hard not to feel some discomfort or guilt when taking shots of people like him, but sometimes such pictures make a positive impact on the rest of the world, or so I like to think. TFS

Best regards

This is very well composed. The photo completely tells the story of his "cold and wet predicament." The emotion on the boy's face is perfectly captured, almost like asking what this man is doing taking my picture. A perfect moment photo subject...but it's just a normal "working" day for him.

It's still amazing how they could hold their balance on such a narrow edge. Years of practice? Because of necessity? If nothing is done about their plight, then maybe he'll be in that same position in the years to come.

Thank you for reminding me of how blessed a lot of us still are. Thank you for reminding me that it's time to give back.

Hi Allan,

I like this photo as it is. It is composed well. TFS.

A beautiful minimalstic composition from you Allan. Its a nice shot with those staring eyes and a beautiful perspective. You've done well to get it in b/w. A superb POV and great effort.

Well composed and well exposed. It sets a great mood. Have you thought about sepia toning it?

ganda sa black and white dre. kya lang parang naging over-expose because of the border. Tfs
