Two generations of Irish gents...a world apart but still cut from the same material. On someone elses wedding day, Enda and Conall "takin a walk down the promenade" at the Fitzwalter Estate and gardens in Goodnestone. Shot in B&W (in-camera mode) in late afternoon sunlight.

Hi Chris/Cristopher,

This is a cracking shot ... actually I'd say your best (so far) from the others I've seen. It works in a way in b&w that it simply would not otherwise. There's many a shot like this that I have seen over the years in the Irish Times ie. it has a nice reportage feel

It so typfies an Irish scene that I knew all too well as growing up as a child.

In my parent's day (married this year fifty years previous in UCD Chapel, St.Stephens Green, Dublin) such similar pics might well have been taken but it is the quality of the attire that marks the difference. As you suggest in your notes, the younger chap in his very flash and expensive pinstripe, the elder gent in the traditional 2-piece wedding/funeral/christening uniform of old.

Personally, I feel that this picture and its ilk proves an irrevocable fact ... Irishmen were never cut out to wear suits ... tweeds or wellies yes, but never suits.

BTW ... please, lose the border. As I have said in previous posts, there is too much of a reliance on boarders on this site. Its a first rate shot with perfect balance and can be presesented as it is.

great photo! except for the white shirt which is blown out here... great otherwise!!

two thumbs up!
