Solitude by the Sea

[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Not so sure why I'm posting this shot here. it seems a little boring, but when I think on that spot, watching the sea from the little rock cabin, feeling the sea breeze and thinking about somewhere distant, it makes all the sense to share it.
This picture was taken in Punta del Leste, close to the Casa del Pueblo.
Wish you a great day. |

Hi Wellington,
I like your composition and your note makes it all the more interesting. It looks a beautiful but desolate place and I can see why you wanted to share your image. I think what may be lacking is contrast in your B/W shot. The composition works well for me but it is not as sharp as it could be. There are some interesting textures in the stone walls and tin roof of the cabin which need to be brought out. The lack of sharpness could be down to your ISO of 800. I see you took the shot at midday, so an ISO of 100 would have made a difference I think, presuming the sun was bright. Also did you take the image in B/W? It would be interesting to see the colour version, if you have it maybe you could post that one too.
Regards
Joy

This shot conveys a melancholy feeling for me and so it is successful in stimulating a reaction. It does suffer a little from a lack of sharpness and I suggest the little boat be cloned out as it doesn't contribute to the shot and acts as an unwanted distraction I think. It might also be removed via a crop to reduce the sea. Despite these reservations I can certainly see why this might act as a trigger for the emotions you spoke of.
