This is a female Andean condor (Vultur gryphus) flying
near Mount Sallqantay (6271 m) in the Peruvian Cordillera Vilcabamba Andes near Cusco. Her wingspread is nearly 3 m and, if she avoids man's poison of carrion, she might live to 70 years of age (one of the longest lived birds). |
