Visited in Bolivia the Uyuni train cemetery a photographers paradise.
From Wikipedia ©: the Uyuni train cemetery. It is located 3 km outside Uyuni and is connected to it by the old train tracks. The town served in the past as a distribution hub for the trains carrying minerals on their way to the Pacific Ocean ports. The train lines were built by British engineers who arrived near the end of the 19th century and formed a sizable community in Uyuni. The engineers were invited by British-sponsored Antofagasta and Bolivia Railway Companies, which is now Ferrocarril de Antofagasta a Bolivia. The rail construction started in 1888 and ended in 1892. It was encouraged by the then Bolivian President Aniceto Arce, who believed Bolivia would flourish with a good transport system, but it was also constantly sabotaged by the local Aymara indigenous Indians who saw it as an intrusion into their lives. The trains were mostly used by the mining companies. In the 1940s, the mining industry collapsed, partly due to the mineral depletion. Many trains were abandoned thereby producing the train cemetery. There are talks to build a museum out of the cemetery. |

Hi Hans
Long time no see. Good to see you back after an extended hiatus! Excellent graphism of the rusted old train with superb warm vs cold color contrasts against the blue sky backdrop. I like the wide angled crop & linear perspective. A pity for the graffiti but there's just too much of it to repair in photoshop. Tfs!

Is this what they mean to fall off the rails...you prob heard that before...lol. The frame goes so well with this image, love the foreground boggie wheels against the locomotive, it evokes much mood. welldone, TFS

Joh, je bent er weer even. Leuk.
Mooie inzending. Typisch om al dat metaal daar zo te zien liggen. Hier in europa zou dat al heel wat waard zijn. D'r zit vast veel koper in.
Lekker veel diepte in het beeld, door die lijn treinen die zo naar achteren loopt.
Mooi stukje werk weer.

Hey Hans - a lovely photo! The composition is well thought out with the axle close to the camera and filling the FG... I love the light - the sun high in the sky is difficult and a good photographer can always master this problem, as you have done here.

As David noted, you handled a difficult lighting situation very well.
I like the POV you chose, the panorama format suits it well.
I always feel sad when I think of all the toil and sweat men put into these machines, to see them end up like this.
