18,277 New Zealanders
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|18,277 individual named crosses, one for each New Zealand soldier or nurse killed in the Great War.|
At the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918 an Armistice was signed which ended the First World War.
There is s separate section for members of the same family who were killed.
This view is only a small part of the whole area.
Families can remove the crosses at the end of the memorial

This is the picture of the insanity of the so-called "humans."
Fantastic cry of pain and despair.
My honors Jack.
Must be a moving sight to be there, and to think this is just a small fraction of those killed. It was supposed to be the war to end all wars but sadly this was not the case. A massive percentage of New Zealand population. TFS
Amazing image of despair...Impressive composition...It's just a small part of what the war can do....
