Water Lilies on Show

I'm always attracted to Water Lilies – their colours are always look so attractive as they float on the waters

There are about 70 different species of water lilies. These are grouped into:
Night lilies bloom in the night.
Tropical lilies can be found in tropical climates and bloom at all times of the day.
Hardy lilies are able to withstand most conditions and are the most common.

These were growing at the Auckland Domain

Hello Janice,

outstanding composition great color...it is so bright...optimum DOF with brilliant framing...

useful note too...thanks for sharing...

Such beautiful color and details a gorgeous pov Very beautifully taken TFS

Hi Janice,
Excellent lush green colours, I'm not sure about the sharpness though, the lower lily appears not fully in focus to me, which might been caused by the low f-stop of f/5.6. Well if you did this for artistic reasons I would understand :-) Overall a fine attractive picture, a nice close up.
Kia ora!

Hello Janice,

You have done well to achieve such fine textures on the petals of these lilies, as they are not as pronounced as on some flowers.
I can see that it produced misunderstanding of focus, as the focal flower, which is above the secondary one, appears to be in the b/g but is, in fact, closer to the camera. (Gosh, I hope that makes sense to you.)You have focussed it well and given a gently blurring into the b/g.
Maybe it would have been easier if you had photographed the lilies from the right-hand side, if that was possible, of course.

Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Your sharpness is amazing here Janice! I so want a 50D...I have the $$$, just not too sure about our economy and it's not a "life and death" item....well...maybe it is for my sanity! haha! You got some incredible results! Your color is really a nice saturation too, the lighting is excellent!
