The little island is called the Tor and is off Waiake Beach on Auckland's North Shore.
I am sure it was Ralph (HapiSnapa)who told me that these breakwaters are called groynes

Hi Jack,
A splendid PP work effect to produce this ambient in this peaceful presentation of such wild environment!
A wonderful composition of this beach. The slow shutter speed of 1 sec. produced this stunning mood.
Well done,

Francis Xavier

Nice work. Great compositional placement of the horizon, terrific colours in the sunset and reflected in the water - the long exposure has given a nicely misty effect to the water too. The only element I'd changed is the orphaned tree branches at the top right. But that's a minor.

I remember the conversation about groynes and have driven past this scene many times

Long exposure works well, nice colours

A wonderful composition with great details and colorful view, Jack!

I love the movement in water which is captured so beautifully with long exposure.
The sharpness and POv are excellent, and the cloud formation gives artistic touch into the scene.
Well caught silhouettes of the tree as well as the small islands at far.
Great work!

Thanks and regards,
Paras

Hello Jack,
Great job on capturing this fantastic sunset against the the small island. The soft reflected colors in the water make this picture calming, along with the sky itself.

Hi Jack,

A beautiful sunset, the warm tones of color.
While it creates a beautiful thing atmopshere, despite the austral winter.
The silhouette of the embankment and trees are beautiful, thank you for sharing with us.
A pleasant evening.
My best regards.
John

Hi Jack,

The long exposure makes really the interest of this beautiful sunset's photo.
The light blur in sea and sky give some smoothness at this warm atmosphere.
What i like more is the reflection on the foreground. The colors are simply gorgeous!

Yep, groyne it is Jack.
As a boy in Gisborne I swam over to the groyne/breakwater.
The DOF that F22 gave you is stunning, a very nice seascape, well done.
Cheers,
Pete.

Spectacular landscape with amazing tonal and dynamic range captured in this subtle but effective exposure blend. Artistic composition and wonderful use of slow shutter speed to create this work of art....well done and Tfs!

Dilshan
