[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note

I love these flowers - and they are so photogenic - well I think so.

Spanish priests grew cosmos in their mission gardens in Mexico. The evenly placed petals led them to christen the flower Cosmos, the Greek word for harmony or ordered universe. Cosmos, like many of our warm weather annuals such as marigolds, originated in Mexico and South America.

Interestingly, this flower re-seeds easily despite being an annual. They look best in massed groupings and towards the back of a garden, as they tend to be tall. Some cosmos have been known to exceed four feet!

Have you been meeting Dawn at Kings again?

While I'm not crazy about flower shots I'm really impressed with the form and detail of the bud and the spindly green stem to the right of the main flower.

Nice macro capture from a lovely flower with great details!

Hallo Janice,

wunderschönes Macro mit knackiger Schärfe und super Details .
Die Blüte hebt sich schön vom Hintergrund ab und presentiert sich dadurch perfekt.

Gruß Detlef

Hello Janice,

Excellent note. The photo is very well composed. The water on the petals are clearly presented and the flower facing away is a nice touch. Thanks for sharing.

Bonjour Janice

Jolie composition avec un beau contraste des couleurs.La définition du bouton et des feuilles sur la droite offre un beau graphisme et j'aime le contraste avec le BG bicolore.
Bravo Janice.

Lovely work Jannie! Excellent sharpness and details! You managed the white flower well! Not easy to do in bright sunlight! I love the squiggly looking green stems! Very nice! Give yourself and Dawnie a big hug for me!

i love medium format, Janice. i love brilliance of pollen, of miracle ..spring is awakening, spring with all that green and smells is something new. something you 're allways feel like first time. like first love, like a life of seed ..
that's why i love this time of year.
and when i see pictures with the same feelings, i just can add my smile :)

Hi Janice
Great macro with good details and nice POV
Fantastic light control as there is no OE on the white flower
Just choosing the point of focus is very difficult in macro shots and also how much to close aperture...
Best wishes, Alireza

Hi Janice,

Beautiful macro! Excellent light usage. I love the contrast between the fully opened bloom and the bud. Great DOF, keeping everything close to the flower in focus, while the BG is nicely blurred. Very attractive colours. The Cosmos looks like it's waiting for a bee, so that all will be well with its universe. TFS.

Hi Janice. I love Cosmos, but didn't know it originates from Mexico. Nice capture and interesting note!
