a tail of a Giant Sperm Whale - this is my entry to Friday's theme: "It's in the (de)tail(s)"

Off the Kaikoura coastline is a marine environment so rich in nutrients that it attracts some of the most magnificent creatures with which we share our planet. Among them are Giant Sperm Whales that can grow up to 20 metres and weigh over 50 tons. These whales can be seen all year round making Kaikoura one of the most popular whale watching locations in the world.

Bom dia Tsilla
That's literally a very interesting pun title (de-tail).
Great entry indeed. A simple and nice scene very well captured and presented.

The title give me a chuckle :D Very nice and I like to see different kind interpretation of the theme :D

Hi Tsilla.

Nice touch with the title.
I love the subject, the light across the tail and the minimal water movement makes for a great image. The hazy backdrop adds perspective. TFS

Stv :0))

I like your interpretation of Friday's theme. I always wanted to photograph those whales, maybe one of those days. Nice capture with good pov and dof. Wonderful colors. Well done, tfs.

Hello Tsilla, how lucky are you to be able to see this first hand?
Good title.
Sharp picture with a nice blurred bg, putting the whole scene into context.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Fabulous play on words Tsilla! Love the great quality of this shot! Perfect timing, excellent for the theme! Lots of nice detail in the water!

Hi Tsilla

Lol! An unusual entry in the Friday 'de-tail' theme! Good sharpness & I really should go on a humpback whalewatching tour in my own backyard in Moreton Bay, Australia. I have been to Canada & NZ but didn't go on any whale tours there either. I like the flattened perspective from the zoom. Tfs!

Nice timing and focus Tsilla, not the easiest photo to take.
I got a similar shot on film many years ago.

Great minds think alke, I was going to post the south end of a rhino heading north ;)
I will post it as a WS on my theme post.
