Good job for a first portrait!
You did very accurate post processing, with sharpening the eyes (and lips?), with healing brush on the skin and so on. But nothing could solve the fact this photo is BLURRY! :( It's not the matter of focus, it's OK and DOF is excellent chosen. But your hand obviously shake at the moment...
Too bad, this might be such a nice portrait. Still, I recongnize the efforts and welcome you to this lovely community called TrekLens. Hope to see more good work from you,
I like to be less hard to you. But it was you choice to join the club. Most of the time you get thinks like WOW and this good. About your first portrait. I think its good. portraits is a very difficult part of the photography. We see so many people and every time we judge the body language of that person. Do we like him/here or not try to find out what the mood is. Now I look at a nice smiling girl what I can see not forced. She bend over to me and like to say really. She trust the photographer very important. You have good eye contact. Afterwards you were nicely to here to fix up the skin. You use black and white to make you first portrait more artistic and more telling. For me itís a very good first try. There are many books about portrait photography and most of time it comes close to psychology.

The focusing is a bit soft but good choice of B&W. Nice work.
