Have been playing with a few of these for a few weeks and though not entirely happy with it the boys said I should use this one first.(I have a few car oob's of course). The dude with the teeth is one of the displays at Dinosaur Island at Seaworld on the Gold Coast..
The fun part with these is matching up shadows with the direction of any light already on the subject..
I can get most done with Petes method but using GIMP, but one thing that still bugs me is not being able to adjust the opacity of the shadow.Thats fine if it isnt over the frame but messes with the look where you can actually see the shadow going over the frame( you cant see the frame through the shadow).

Very well done.
Good to see you have mastered the art.
We will be seeing a few more, no doubt.

Hi Fiona, Yes, this type of 3D picture needs work and thought. The head of this creature is well balance with the rest of the elements in the frame....light, position and shadow etc. Great sharpness. Thank for sharing

Spectacular Fiona, very well done!

With the limitations of Gimp, simply leave the shadow off, the result will still be very good.

Google 'Out of Bounds Photography/Images.
You will find most have no shadows, or minimal shadows.

Once again, Well Done.

Hello Fiona, excellent PP work, you have my total admiration!
I think that Peter is right; it does not necessarily need the shadow to give the effect that you want.
Well done!Regards Jean.

Hello Wacky

I like the result of your efforts here. You used a good subject. The shadow is fine. Maybe the use of PSE would help. A very affordable program. nice
