After the disaster of 1899, and the shipwreck of the 'City of York' from San Francisco USA, a second lighthouse was built on Rottnest Island, to augment the other, 'Wadjemup', in the center of the island. A short excerpt from the hyperlink below:

"The City of York set out from San Francisco for Fremantle on April 13 1899 with 26 men and a cargo of Oregon wood on board. The ship made a record passage to Western Australia and approached Rottnest Island late afternoon on July 12, 90 days after they set sail.
The conditions were rough that afternoon with stormy weather, blinding rain and heavy seas. At the time, the pilots, who were based on Rottnest Island, were busy attending to other arrivals and so lit a fire at the base of the Wadjemup Lighthouse to warn the ship to stand off.
The City of York's captain, Phillip Jones, misunderstood the light as the pilot boat and headed straight for it."

The captain & 10 of the ship's crew died in the ensuing shipwreck.

Bom dia Chris,
What stands out here is the strong and nice lateral light and the frontal POV and shallow DOF you took everything that makes this photo a beautiful spectacle.
Cheers,
R.

Hi Chris,
A nice low POV in this shot. Could be a bit sharper, but that is a minor detail.

Bonjour Chris,
Odile

Love the green color tones of the water against the lighthouse, Chris!
Amazing light and perfect exposure for the location.
The sharpness and DOF are well done too.
Nice job!

Hi Chris,
A very sharp image of this lighthouse on this islet. Perfect details in the white stonework and pleasant eye catching contrasts of such vivid colors.
The POV is just perfect with such beautiful sea waves adorned with perfect side lighting.
Well done,

Francis Xavier

Hi Chris.

The sea looks so dynamic against the rocks, lighthouse and sky. White horses are starting to appear, not something we associate with crystal blues waters like this. Stunning scene Chris, stunning. TFS

Good morning Chris,

against the rocks and deep blue in color magic.
The composition is excellent with the majestic lighthouse.
Well done for this TFS

Awesome capture of this lighthouse (especially from boat) but a sad story about the City of York. Great lighting and good dof with sharp details. Excellent colors with good saturation. Well done, tfs.

Hi Chris,

Superb image. You captured so well the the waves motion in foreground. It's so curious that the rocks seem dancing with the sea. I like the simplicity of the composition giving all importance at the white lighthouse. Very nice colors!

Annie

Hi Chris,

The distance between the ocdean and the lighthouse is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the island and of the lighthouse. The afternoon light is enhancing the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.
