[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I watched as this man approached a freshwater crocodile in Windjana Gorge. I called to ask what he was doing - he said he was going to catch the croc. When I asked "why" he simply said "why not". This is the moment the croc lashed out and the man jumped back before each retreated. No damage done. Freshwater crocodiles are not generally regarded a serious danger to humans, unless, of course, they feel threatened as in this situation - this man was very lucky not to suffer a substantial injury. I only had my 17-50mm lens - so had to make a big crop to get this close.

Hi Terry, great catch of a typical idiot, always the 'why not' ones that whine when something goes wrong. Just a pity its head wasnt turned further sideon. Fiona

Hello Terry

A very effective crop to show the action of the duel in front of your eyes. A very interesting image.

Hi Terry

The croc is not a happy chappy & looks a bit snappy! Good decisive moment here. Excellent framing color & sharpness. Tfs!
