[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
A record Paul recently picked up from a record store for $20. Neil Young (born 1945) is a Canadian folk/rock singer-songwriter most prominent in the 1960's and 1970's. This album "Decade" was released in 1976.
I chose "action" for the category of this photo as the record was playing while I took it! I found I had to stop down the f-stop to ensure the needle and the record label were all in focus. It was night time with our indoor lights (which cast a yellow glow) on so I used a 430EX speedlight external flash bounced off the white ceiling. White balance was set to "flash" mode. I focused on the label immediately left of the needle then clicked when it rotated to an upright position!
Please, please, please give criticism!!! Your time is much appreciated!

Hi Roxanne,,
Excellent ! Your clarity and details are really good considering the movement. Nice POV to take this from and a very classic album. Good display here. TFS Julie

Hi Paul & Roxy, An appealing image, i get the feeling of the sound. Beautiful clarity and the writing is clear. It shows what a good job the Canon 7D does. One posible constructive remark would be crop so the whole of the yellow circle shows. TFS. Murray
Nice, it's Vinyl so what's not to like :-) very real colour tones on label and shiny part of inner record, great cartridge too
I took a similar photo a few years back, copy and paste link below into your browser to view

Great shot Roxanne. Wonderful composition well cropped and so sharp. i am amazed at your ability to get everything in such perfect focus while the turntable was rotating. I think you did a great job with the lighting and natural color as well. Well done. TFS, Lori
