Winter this year was colder than normal Tasmanian standards but very dry with rainfall well below the average.

This camellia from City Park the photo taken under a weak winter sun and with the exposure bias value set at - 0.30 eV in an attempt to alleviate some of the brightness.

Good sharpness, nice shadow of the stamen.

I really like the "over all" atmosphere of this image David. From the light you can actually tell it is either wintertime or an early morning/late evening picture.
Lovely composition, colors and sharpness!

Cheers,
Anneke

P.s.: Hope you're feeling better since last time we "spoke" ...

hi David

Nice macro of this flower for a winter season. But winter is almost over although I was told this year Australian winter is cold.

Beautiful white flower and nice light!
Great focus and good perspective!

Hello David,
Good EV adjustment to temper brightness. No OE on the white petals. Attractive off-centered composition of the camellia blossom. Regards, Danilo

Hola David,
precioso encuadre y buen foco,
presentación y buena iluminación...
saludos amigo.

Hi David,
To hear the word "winter" makes me ill. I'm not ready for those cold days ahead. Anyway I really like the detail in this picture. The core of the flower looks wonderful surrounded by those white pedals. The flower really stands out against the dark green BG. Nice work.
Regards,
Kevin

Hello David,

Excellent work on handling the whites in this delicate, beautiful camelia.
The composition, with the flower serenely appearing from the top r/h corner is very attractive. I like how the light is making shadow replicas of the stamens.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

hi david, nice off centre composition, i like the pov, colors and details too, a fine post,

Hello David
Admirable are the textures in highlights on this first sign of your spring, that you located judiciously on a sweet spot for a most appealing look!
Please post some more spring flowers!

You have handled the whites so beautifully my friend of many faces. If these lovely flowers bloom in a “colder than normal” winter, I think I would find it just fine. Wonderful composition and stunning DOF to make this so lovely. Excellent.
Warmest Regards
Wanda

Hallo David,
sehr gute Makroaufnahme. Die Details und die Schärfe sind einmalig. Gute Arbeit mein Freund.

Hi dear friend,
you are lucky to have such beautiful flowers in winter time.
Wonderful details and light in it.
Nicely framed too.
Best wishes,
Ioana

Hiya David

A superb shot here, lovely sharp detail and excellent white balance, good lighting and the framing compliments the shot perfectly.

I hope your doing OK

TFS regards Helen

Hi David,

That is a good idea, I think you can even use 2 stops - like -0,7 - when making pictures like this, the colours seem to get deeper.
Looking at your picture, winter does not seem too bad where you are living.
Here berries are growing in abundance and an old saying is that we then can expect a very cold winter - probably not - probably a wet one. That is what climate change does here.

TFS this perfect and sunny camelia.

Superb work here David! You really did well with this white flower, which is an OE nightmare in sunlight! Love the sharpness, yet it's romantically soft! I like it!
