I don't do portraits - they are too hard for me.
This is a shot of my son Robbie looking rather mean while on holiday in Queensland- yes he still occasionally goes on holiday with the "olds" - this is his "don't point that cameras at me" look

Hi Jack,
I am also not good at portraits however this is a great result. Good choice of monochrome, well exposed with clear facial features. Interesting reflections in his glasses.

What is best for a good portrait is present here. Anything else I suggested would be a matter of personal taste.
I liked very much.
