I'm back from my holiday with a few holiday snaps to share.
This is Heron Island on the Great barrier reef Australia. (shot taken from helicopter)

Heron Island is a coral cay located near the Tropic of Capricorn in the southern Great Barrier Reef, 72 km north-east of Gladstone, Queensland, Australia, and 539 km north of the state capital Brisbane. The island is situated on the leeward (western) side of Heron Reef, a fringing platform reef of significant biodiversity, supporting around 900 of the 1,500 fish species and 72% of the coral species found on the Great Barrier Reef.[1]

The island is about 800 metres (2,600 ft) long and 300 metres (980 ft) at its widest, giving an area of approximately 16 hectares (40 acres). The highest point, near the western tip, is 3.6 metres (12 ft) ASL. A dune ridge along the southern shore rises some 3 metres (10 ft) ASL, lower dunes on the northeastern side are only about one metre (3 ft) above the sea.[2]

Hi Tim,
This is an impressive heli shot! Those tropical colours are wonderful. I'm happy you posted this special aerial image.

Impressive colors!

HI Tim

The blues in this photo are really beautiful. Since it's my favorite color, I could view it all day. What a peaceful looking scene. Nice placement of the island in the frame.

thanks for sharing, LIsa

Hello Tim, a fantastic place and a great photo! Very well composed and shot with a very good technique, thanks!

Hello Tim!
Lovely little island and very good perspective!
Incredible water!
Great colours in your picture!
Best regards!

Hello Tim!

Pretty scary and frighthening place for me Tim .... Why ? Well from a guy living a country where we have waves frequently higher than 8 meters, I would not feel comfortable living on a tiny island such as this one. Even if it is protected by the reefs. A tsunami can still come.....

That being said, the photo is really sharp and clean despite being taken from an helicopter ( open window maybe ), The composition is very effective with elements well placed . I am wondering about the two boats at the right ? Were they anchored, or aground ?

1. how do I get a ticket here?
2. can you get me one?
Amazing Tim, I could just go here, set up a tent and live the rest of my life right here. Your blues are a real eye catcher, love the depth of the colors! What a POV! Amazing! Hands down, you live in the most beautiful place in the world. When I get on Google Earth, I always head to the South Pacific!

Totally unlike anything you've posted before, Tim! I'm impressed.

Very rich and deep saturation, strong and typically tropical colours.

What's that odd, peanut-shaped feature sticking up in the middle of the island??

WOW Tim !

what an location! cool idea cool POV cool work!
i want to take a trip real one across Asia and Malasia and Oceania of course..can u tell me which way of transport is the best to see as much as possible? air , ship?
I love New Zealand and Australia!!!!!!!!!

Hi Tim. Nice aerial composition with the lead in line from the right. The aquamarin blue is intense. I am not sure why, but the image looks a bit pixelated at my end. stunning scenery seen and captured. tFS. Karin
