If only the tree could talk. This very old Oak in Smith County Tennessee has had better days. The tree has seen the indiginous indians to the revolutionary troops in the 1700s, the Confederate troops as they faced off the Union soldiers during the civil war of the 1860s. This tree has seen the fallen come home to rest from 2 world wars and Veitnam. The tree comntinues to watch life as it passes by daily. It would be nice if the tree only could see children as they rest and play in it's shade. This tree has been split in half maybe from a storm or lightning. It continues to make it's presence felt. I hope to see it next week when I make another journey up north. |
