|I took an entire series of sunset effects caused by the smoke from a large fire on the other side of the mountain. It's not too often you can take direct pictures of the sun.|

I see your a painter. I like this quote (I've used it before) A painter starts with an empty canvas and has to decide what to include. A photographer starts with a full canvas and has to decide what to leave out. Personally, I would have excluded some of the dark sky at the top, which, I think adds nothing. Still a good result.
