[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Next week is the 75th birthday of the Golden Gate Bridge. This shot was taken from across the Bay about 3km. I used NIK’s Silver Efex Pro to add some grain and an old- time feel. The image is fused from three separate shots. A layer mask was used to add some Structure to some parts of the image and some Sepia toning was added to give the shot a historical feel.

It is difficult to photograph something that is so often photographed. In this case choosing a crop and having the fog helped.

Bom dia Roger,

This is a great advantage and disadvantage of Themes icons. It is hard to capture something new or different, but in return is the challenge to the artist, find something that sticks out.
Just compare this with the image that you published yesterday to see what are apparently similar, but very different and both absolutely uniques.

Hi Roger
was this photo taken 75 year ago...?! ;))
perfect PP work. the B&W version created a great documentary image of good old Golden Gate Bridge. splendid and creative presentation.

Hello Roger,
Wonderful atmosphere and very good composition of what seems to be one of your favourite objects. The sepia toning works very well. I can believe that it must be difficult to create a different image of something that is so often photographed and you did it again.

Very well done, it feel like I'm looking at a photo taken when the bridge first open. I like the effect of the mist, very San Francisco. Good pov and dof with nice contrast. Well done, tfs.

HI Roger,
I like the light sepia toning for this Golden Gate Bridge to render such a classical presentation. Nice soft ambient with this fog fading away the BG.
The low POV gives this shot a remarkable artistic look.
Well done,

Francis Xavier

Hi Roger

Happy Birthday to the GG! A nice conversion to b&w here which helps with the illustration of age. The grain & fog add mood & atmosphere. Wonderful graphism & sharpness. Tfs!

You nailed it, and with no interference from flying objects! Well, from this vantage point it is just massive! Amazing processing, it does have an old feel to it!

Pretty impressive details from that distance & in fog Roger.
You certainly accomplished everything your note mentions with your PP work.as several others have mentioned,it's not easy to
present a fresh viewpoint of this famous bridge,& you have done that with this image.

Nice idea to show the Golden Gate in sepia, it seems to be an old analog photo

A strong shot with superb mood hidden in it, Roger!

Love the moment you have caught here with such amazing light and exposure.
The sharpness and POV are well done, and exposure is just right!
Great job!

Kind regards,

Hi Roger,
WONDERFUL photo. Very nice PP work - the fog adds incredible character to this. Nice choice of B&W creating even more mood. Really well done Roger. TFS Julie

gee, it's funny that it is also my 75th birthday, so I am the same age as the Golden Gate bridge. You made my day, Roger. No wonder I've always felt a curious affection towards this bridge and photographed it myself when I was there.
This pic is beautifully romantic with an old Jules Verne feel about it. Janos

Hi Roger, you did a really good job with the ageing in this, you half expect to see an old steamship come through. Fiona
