|Many good photographers advise: "Look up!" Well, sometimes looking down is just as useful. This is a portion of a sewer manhole cover on a sunny morning in New York's Union Square Park. The market was crowded with people, colorful produce stands, artwork, etc., but this detail caught my eye. The small bits of rock, dirt, match sticks, scars and footprints give life to this rugged piece of dense, thick metal. |
In PP: Cropped to move the circle off-center, sharpened, increased contrast slightly, added a vignette.

I like the play with lines and symbols in this geometrical composition. I like the reflection of the light on this iron sewer manhole cover.
Very sharp presentation.
Good eye to present this artistic composition.
My best regards,
I admire the symmetry you have achieved in this shot, Sandy!
The game of circles, pentagons and hexagons shown so artistically make this work so special in its appeal. The contrast are wel kept and clarity is nice.
I like the metalic texture of image. You had controle well the light and a excellent contribuition to the theme-
Metal castings often produce fascinating abstract images. You've captured the light very well here with shadows highlighting the detail.
