[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Yesterday I saw a picture and post from Jose (mbrito) that was very sad. He spoke of his disappointment in TL for the number of posts and the quality. I have been a member for less than 2 months and my experience has been so different from the one he describes. The number of posts varies from day to day, but there is always a good variety of shots to view. As far as quality, there is a wide range but that does not make the post any less valuable. How do people learn if not for the critiques from those with more experience. For this reason I am posting this male cardinal for Werner (werdir). He is one of the first TL members to offer comments and tips to help improve my photography. In one of his first incredible shots he dedicated a cardinal to his late mother, whose favorite bird was a cardinal. I was so touched by his note and I began to realize what a wonderful community we were all a part of. Sorry this shot isn't perfectly sharp but I hope you like it. Jose, I wish you did not feel disappointed in TL. Werner, thank you for your support and your fantastic shots. have a great day!

Hi Lori.

This is a lovely shot. The bird is a lovely vibrant colour and your blurred background contrasts well. I also saw Werner's shot and commented on that one too as this is such a beautiful little bird. I agree with your comments too on the subject of Jose's post yesterday. It is very sad. I also have received many encouraging tips and techniques from various members and feel TL is an excellent place to learn. I am sure Werner will be impressed with your image here too.

Kind regards

Thanks for the CU male cardinal shot - very colorful.

Thanks Lori, I appreciate your kind words. This is a nice shot of the male Cardinal. You've already critiqued it yourself, so no need in me going into it other than to say Larry's workshop helps nicely. For the most part I think TL members are trying to improve their photos, so I believe in focusing on positive encouragement. There are some who don't fit into that category, so I generally avoid them.

Sorry I haven't been too active here the last couple of weeks, but I've been kind of busy with other things. I haven't been completely happy with the software I was using, so I followed Linda's (shelbeesmom) advice and bought Corel Paint Shop. I need to learn how to use it, and that is pretty time consuming. Hope to post again soon.

I'll try to find Jose's note to see what he mentioned.

Take care and have a nice evening.

I like this cardinal's expression...as if saying "what you want Lori!" Great colors and nice blurring of the bg. Well done, tfs.

Hello Lori
Here in Quebec, we don't have as many Cardinals as you have. This one you share with us today is a very nice specimen with an interesting posture, the head being turned so we can have that important eye contact. As you wrote inthe note guidelines, the image is not pin sharp. This can be corrected and I made a litle workshop for you. Hope you like it.

dear Lori,
a beautiful picture of wonderful posed cardinal,
this looking back figure is impressive, especially its shining black round eye is charming,
and also red body color is so vivid in this cheerful and blurred surroundings,
thank you for your excellent shot,

Hi Lori,
A very attractive pose from this lovely red Cardinal!
A nice composition adorned with beautiful lighting and a nice bokeh BG to isolate the bird!
Well done,

Francis Xavier
