[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Always in search of a "better" shot of birds in the wild. Another view of the male Northern Cardinal. It's probably personal taste, but I enjoy seeing them nestled in branches and shrubs like this. And since my last posting, I've become more aware of the shadows in situations like this (thank you Galan).

No crop, a slight contrast adjustment and unsharp mask.

Happy New Year everyone!

Hi Werner,
What a magnificent red bird which, from your note, I understand it's a male Northern Cardinal!
Great details in the plumage adorned with perfect lighting.
A very good timed shot with the bird noticing the camera, so you obtained a stunning eye and a wonderful profile of the bird.
Very neat work, my friend.

I wish you and your family a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Hi Werner,
There is something so special about these cardinals- and I agree with your taste. They are very difficult to photograph, the red coloring is hard to get right and they tend to be very shy. You've done a great job with the lighting, details and I love how he is perched. I am now on a mission to look for a cardinal ! Thanks for the inspiration and Happy New Year to you and yours... Julie

HI Werner,
Pretty birds make good shots too ;-) Nice DoF on this and beautiful vivid colours on this cardinal, birds in there natural habitat always make for the better shot. Great posting. Best wishes

Hi Werner..nice shot of this Cardinal...your depth of field separated your subject well from the background...well done.

Superb Werner! My mother's favorite bird! I was out shooting yesterday and caught one of these...although it's not as good as this one! LOVE that bokeh! I'm adding you to my theme!

This little bird has great elegance and you've captured the perfect moment.
It is very well presented and the use of light is superb.
I also like the branches and thorns around that remind us that it is not easy to approach him.
Very good job !

Awesome capture of this cardinal. Great pov and dof with sharp details. Very nice colors. Well done, tfs.

Hello werner

Hi Werner.
A very well spotted shot where your focused is spot on your subject while the natural habitat feeling of the tree branches in shallow depth in the FG makes it more interesting and professional in composition, very well done my friend.
Best Wishes
