Sun on Lily Pads
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|Over the course of the summer, the pond in our local park became home to an unusually dense amount of vegetation along its banks. My son and I went to the pond late in the day to get some shots of whatever we could find. For this shot I was standing on the bank facing in the direction of the late day sun and I liked the effect on the surface of these tightly grouped lily pads. |
I used f/14 to try to get a deep DOF so that all of the pads would be more-or-less in focus. In PP I cropped, sharpened, converted to b&w and then played with Aperture 3's monochrome color mixer to achieve a sort of bluish tint. I also added a subtle vignette.

Original play of light and shapes for a visual impact.
I like the simple observation here Sandy ... great eye to see and capture this. I like the abstract nature of this, and the simple color combination. Great one!
Enjoy your weekend
it is very nice. i love the patterns and the intensity of reflections

This is a unique lily pad shot...I like the bluish tint for a sci-fy interpretation:) Actually, it creates a cool sensation for the summer heat wave. Good use of light and surfaces. Well managed settings and pp work.
Hope you're having a great summer!
