[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
My wife and I went to the Marshy Point Nature Center this morning, where they’re celebrating the upcoming Earth Day with their spring festival. There were a lot of things to see and do (especially for the children), and one of the most interesting was this owl. As we strolled around I was switching the camera between aperture priority and shutter priority, and forgot to switch back to shutter priority that I had set up for action shots. Still, a few of the owl/action shots turned out well.

Shot in RAW, cropped and applied USM. Color and lighting seemed fine.

Thanks for viewing.

i have mixed feelings with thsi picture, in a way lighting and focus of the bird are simply marvelous, but I feel the background is competing with the image, coz is a little distracting

Hi Werner:

Beautiful shot of this magnificent owl.
Very nice details and colors.

TFS,
Jafar

Another dandy Werner!! You absolutely nailed the focus on the bird and gloved hand .. fantastic sharp detail. The bit of movement visible in the wings is a good bonus IMO. Really nice exposure, and perfect timing.
Good job :)
Trudy

Hi, Werner. Nice capture of this beautiful Owl from a good POV with good exposure, colors and sharpness. I like the eye. Owls are usually seen in my area at dusk and very difficult to spot among the trees. Cheers and TFS.

Hi Werner,
A fine capture of this beautiful bird. Like the blurred background which enhances the owl really good. Sharpness is spot on even like the natural colours. The eye is a prominent part of the picture. A fine composition too. Great job my friend.
Hans

I hope my critique doesn't change into comment.

Hi Werner,

I must mention that the thumbnail doesn't do justice.
Though the focus on the owl is razor-sharp, but the subject is somehow disappearing in the busy BG.

My personal feeling is that the contrast could be better by opting for a different surroundings. I understand that sometimes we don't get what we want.

Kind regards,
Paras
