This is a gift for our good friend, photographer and fisherman Nicolas Amherd (nicou). Recently he commented on one of my Osprey photos, saying that they were better at fishing than he was. I donít know Nicolas personally, but I think that I must agree with him ;))

I was standing on the shore of Dundee Creek when this Osprey circled very near me and effortlessly caught this catfish. Normally Ospreys dive to catch their fish, but this one just skimmed the surface of the water and snatched the hapless fish.

I was shooting into the sun for this, so the contrasts were pretty strong. I shot in RAW, merged three exposures into an HDR, applied color curves and applied USM. I cropped in closer with this one, as suggested by others on my previous posting.

Thanks for viewing.

Another superb shot Werner, maybe lacking a little on contrast with the strong light but superb focus and action 'effortlessly' taking this fish. Fantastic shooting mate. Best wishes

Werner, great catch! I did a workshop to show a little more color in the bird and to tighten the cropping just a little. Hope you don't mind. I love the original photo!

Fantastic shot! Werner.
I love the way the bird flying. His face looks very happy. Great POV. It's NOT easy to capture the scene like this.

Hi Werner,

Great catch of the Osprey with its catch! Very nice details and colours. You said that you were shooting in raw, so you probably didn't take a lot of shots very quickly. I would have liked to see the Osprey just after that time, so that I would see the fish flipped around head first -- they're so adept at doing that. I've only had a couple of opportunities to take such a shot, and both times I failed. Good PP. TFS.

Regards,
John

Hi Werner,
Great caught of view and details.
Excellent action shot with great colors and light,
Excellent sharpness too,
very well done.
Michel

Great timing Werner! Looks like you clicked the shutter at just the right moment. It all looks perfectly frozen with the 1/1250s shutter speed too. It always amazes me how some birds catch fish like that. The clarity and focus on this particular bird looks excellent. I would never have guessed it was HDR! Bravo!

Scott.

Hi Werner,

What can I say that has not already been said except to agree that this is a great action shot perfectly captured with nice details and colours. A polarizer would get rid of the slight glare that is on the water tfs.

Regards
Jon
