[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I was very lucky to see this fish hawk capture such a large catfish and then fly relatively close to me as it took its dinner home to its family. The only problem from a photography standpoint is that it was flying into the late afternoon sun. I liked the photo, but didn’t like the exposure variations and other methods I used to try to keep the sky a rich blue and also expose the Osprey properly.

I then thought of making this a silhouette of the bird and its catch, and I personally like the outcome. I desaturated the photo, added some yellow for a sepia effect and added the lens flare. I hope you like it too.

Have a great weekend.

I like this too Werner. Nice idea to sihouette the bird - you can even make out the "beard" on the catfish ... is that what you call it? And I like the sunflares coming across the shot at a slight diagonal - adds an artistic flare, IMO.
I hope you have a great weekend Werner.

Another Beautiful shot full of action and "flare"! Love your improvisation and adaptability to quickly capture this moment given the tough lighting conditions presented to you. Well done and keep them coming!

Congratulations and TFS

Happy Easter to you and family!

Hi Werner,

I have to agree with Trudy that the silhouette is a brilliant choice and the sun flares really add to the overall look to this shot. Have a great weekend.

Wow! You got it! Very fine capture with a great timing! You had less than perfect light conditions but you managed it well. A great post Werner! Thanks!

Hello Werner,
Well my friend since this shot seems to me as a decisive moment a flying hawk with cat fish both of them well placed in frame, shooting directly against the sun is not easy job plus the flying subject is another difficulty but over all you manged it very well,I agree with you about blue sky but still a beautiful silhouettes of the subject which looks like painting, well captured and an amazing presentation.
Have a wonderful weekend
