Ok, going back in time a few years, this is sort of a sister image to my Fair St. Louis Air Show, an upload from last summer. This was taken the same day and I believe of the same plane a few minutes later. I was shooting straight into the air and almost into the sun. My good ol' Olympus 8080WZ point n shoot camera handled it with style and grace, though! I set the ISO to the lowest it has and let the camera do the rest. I didn't know the shutter could work so quickly - 1/2500! There's another reason for not pitching that camera.

Anyway, this was shot at Fair St. Louis, our local Independence Day celebration festival in 2004. We don't have the air show any longer, but we all miss it. I really miss it because last year after going through my archives I noticed that I didn't have any good shots of the people down there - the place draws hundreds of thousands to the park under the arch... I thought it would be fun to shoot up towards the city from the river at the base of the arch and catch all those people staring up at the sky. Oh well, now I will have to go to some city that has money for an air show.

We don't even have money for a decent public transportation system here, much less for a celebratory air show. But, that's another story...

I'm still catching up a little. I promise I'll get back to the Copper Canyon again someday!

Almost neighbors again :)
Love this one Reed .. I think the composition is well thought-out, with the heavy plume of smoke on the right and the descending plane on the left. The trail of smoke looks almost like rope! Nicely saturated colors here.
Have a nice Wednesday Reed
