|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|My son and I decided it was time for another visit to the National Aviary, located on the Northside near downtown Pittsburgh. My son, 11 years old, has taken an interest in photography and we are finding that it is a fantastic way to spend quality father/son time together. I gave him my old equipment to use (nice, lightweight Canon EOS 400D, 18-55 kit lens and a low-end but serviceable tripod). I'm trying to get him to post some of his photos, which are quite good - he has a good eye. |
Shown here is a Victoria Crowned Pigeon. According to the Aviary's website: "The Crowned Pigeons, by far the largest and perhaps the most magnificent of all pigeons, approach turkeys in size. Huge, fanlike crests, composed of feathers with separated barbs, lend a unique and striking adornment. The Victoria Crowned differs from the other species in that its crest feathers are spatulated at the tip, each spatula being white-edged. Their tails are fairly long and tipped in a pale blue compared to the rest of their body."

A good shallow dof on the avian subject, with excellent sharpness & lighting contrasts. Superb color & framing. Have a great week!
Good Morning, Sandy!
Wonderful macro capture of the Victoria Crowned Pigeon, it looks so adorable! The crown is very eye-catching and the shallow DOF works great here. Other great feature of the picture, is the eye of the bird. Great sharpness and POV is wonderful. Very well done!
Have a nice Sunday.

Thanks for sharing,
Merci pour toutes les visites sur mes images.
Cette photo montre un beau portrait avec de belles couleurs.
Le plus étrange avec cet oiseau c’est sont cri, très bas et très profond.
