Taken during blue hour from high in the stands at PNC Park, the home of baseball's Pittsburgh Pirates. The ballpark is situated on the north shore of the Allegheny River, the outfield opens up to a view of Downtown Pittsburgh just across the river. Several of Pittsburgh's skyscrapers can be seen, including PPG Place, CNG Tower and Oxford Centre.

PNC Park opened in 2001 and is widely regarded as one of the best baseball venues in the country. Unfortunately, the Pirates baseball team has not lived up to the reputation of its home field, and will this year set a U.S. record for consecutive losing seasons in a major sport. Regardless, going to a game at this park is just a great way to spend a summer evening.

Thanks to Chris Jules ("chrisJ") for the theme this week ...

Hello Sandy

A superb 'blue hour' shot, with a marvelous warm cold color contrast, between the red & yellow-green fg, & the navy blue skies. Perfect sharpness & light contrasts, & an excellent entry in the Friday theme on skyscrapers. Have a nice weekend!

Hi Sandy...
Beautiful shot with so nice contrast...
Have a nice weekend...

hi sandy
very nice image, beautiful dark skyline against the flood lit pitch, great colour and sharpness.

A fantastic shot Sandy. The yellowish grass of the playing field contrasts effectively with the blue sky. Pittsburgh's skyline is beautifully featured. Looks like an HDR image. Very sharp with excellent colors. I'd like to contribute to this week's theme but I need to find the right file. Best regards...

Really nice Sandy. The vivid color of the field in the foreground, and the contrasting blue-hour color behind .. really makes for an eye-catching image. Nicely divided into thirds with the buildings in the middle.
I'd love to see a major league game someday. How are those Pirates doing this year? I'll admit .. I'm a playoffs fan .. don't watch throughout the season.:)
Have a nice weekend

What a great shot Sandy! passing on to husband from this area! nice control on the light, no glare or OE! Lots of color! I like this!

Hi Sandy,
Wow, this is a superb idea and a superb composition, Sandy! The skyscapers in the background are perfectly sharp and beautifully exposed as well as the baseball field. It's great to be able to present the dark parts and the enlightened parts perfectly in the same composition. Well done, I like your Friday Theme image!

Excellent work, the colors are great.

Hello Sandy

What a great POV. Lovely composition, fantastic colors and details. The Pirates has always been a great team, you have to be patient.

Hi Sandy,
Nice colourful shot, great photo for the theme with the skyscrapers standing proudly in the distance. The clarity looks excellent, a tiny bit of flare on the top right but nothing serious.

Hi Sandy...great shot...fantastic colors...how did you do this? Nice work.

Hello Sandy,

A fine 'blue light' shot where the grass looks almost irridescent, matching the sky for visual effect.
A fine composition with the crowded skyscrapers taking up the midground of the classical 'thirds'.

Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

dear Sandy,
a joyful and fantastic picture of the wonderful night view.
the lighted ground of baseball stadium looks shining and makes interesting contrast with back dark buildings over it.
this color combination of bright green and deep blue is beautiful,
and it makes the dark buildings being miniature model, it is funny.
thank you for your lovely night shot,

Wow, simply stunning! This is a fantastic image of the city and PNC park. The timing during the blue hour is perfect and the light on the field really looks amazing in contrast with the blue sky and green field. Just an amazing image of Pittsburgh and one I'm sure you could have published. Do they allow SLR's into Park?
