[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
During my holiday in the States visited Bryce Canyon National Park. While on our way out we were confronted by wildlife in the woods: common deer. Amazing sight watching these fine deer grazing in the late afternoon light.
I always enjoy watching and photgraphing wildlife. Not a Frans Lanting quality shot but I still like it...

Shot in RAW
Converted in DPP. Saved as TIFF after sharpening
Opened in PS CS3: increased clarity, saturation.
Cropped slightly
Velvia plugin CS3
Resized and framed.
Sharpened a little bit more
Converted to JPEG

Hi Edwin,
interesting capture, good compositional placement.

We have some of these in my neighbourhood (Epping Forest) - i'm not quite sure the exact species as they are so shy and you only see them occassionally.
They do seem much greater in numbers in the states - I've visited parts of Maryland and Virginia where they just seem to be everywhere and you see them all the time :-)

Best regards,

Ahhh Edwin, you beat me to the Friday Theme this week with
a very similar shot to mine! Well Great minds...
Won't be posting it until tomorrow.

Here I love your deer in the woods and how you placed the deer in the frame. Great tones and woodsy feel in the background.
An excellent post!

- Vincent

Hi, Edwin,
You've been lucky indeed.
My compliments!
I don't know how prompt I'd be with the camera, but you hadn't hesitated.
Well done

a beautiful moment captured, but i don't understand the blue colours on the deer and on some branches,
saturation ?
highlights/shadows ?
some PP done which is wrong IMHO

Hello Edwin
a beautiful picture but lacks a little depth of field to bring the subject in focus.
well done

Nou Edwin,

Heerlijke foto,

Hi Edwin,

Nice captured!!! Another bambi in the wood... excellent composition and pov, great colours and details. Well done!

Have a great weekend,

Hello Edwin,

I love the composition and the alert pose of the deer.
However, like Jonathan, I am confused by the blue tinges.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Edwin... Nice lens I have hardley had the chance to play with mine yet :-)

Wonderful shot here, good sharp detail, crisp with good clarity in the eyes... Clearly they can hear well with them but I wonder if this deer has also evolved with ears this shape and size to try and scare away animals that might prey on them as the ears really look like large eyes dont they?Lovely capture

TFS and for joining in with the theme

kind regards Helen

Hi Edwin.
Very nice nature shot. Love the pose of the animal and vertical composition. Nice colours and well presented in a white frame.

Hoi Edwin,
Deze viel even niet op :-)
Een mooi shot van het hert, die oren zijn wel joekels zeg. Prachtig gevangen :-)

Hi Edwin,

How lucky can one get? This is a wonderful shot of the deer.

I like the effect of the grassy area around the deer as well as the position in the frame.

thanks for sharing, Lisa

A very nice image also reminding me of my own amazement seeing the deer from the woods come right up to the houses in the late afternoon when visiting friends in Philadelphia in the USA. TFS your photo brought back fond memories
