[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Masks: We all wear them.

Some of them we choose the photographer hides behind a lens, the doctor shelters behind a lab coat; the soft-hearted fellow bluffs and blusters, the cynical salesman honeys his words; the gentle hand slips into a boxing mitt, the iron fist dons a velvet glove.

Some of them are chosen for us the eldest child is the responsible one, the youngest is the spoiled one.

Some of them are thrust upon us we look in the mirror and see them grow: lines and wrinkles hiding young hearts, sagging tissue hiding lithe spirits.

We all wear them at one time or another. We wear dark ones to mask the light and light ones to mask the dark.

What mask will you wear today?

Tech: selected image from my archives, rotated, increased contrast and colour saturation, adjusted highlights and shadows, applied smart blur to selected water surfaces on the right, sharpened overall, added frame and signature

Thanks for looking and enjoy the masked ball we call life.

Hello Silke.
What a lovely image. Fantastic reflection and I love the way it increases transparency of the water. Not sure do I like the rotation.
TFS
Wojciech

What a clever and unique post Silke.
At first I thought you forgot to rotate the shot :)
I bet this would work well as a B/W too.
Great frame and presentation.

I haven't been to Los Osos yet, but plan to work my way up and down the California Coast whenever time allows!

Well done neighbor!

We have faces more than two. Lots hide behind the computer; saying things that we never would say when looking eachother in the eyes; we hide because we are afraid to show ourselves. We can escape, that needs courage but opens real life.
Thanks for the inspration.
Huub

Yes your right Silke.
I always hide myself behind my computer. haha
With door locked.!
A 90 degrees turning would do good, I think ?
Best wishes from Jan

Gives a strange feeling having it rotated this way.
Not too sure about it.
It's an excellent image.
But I did look at it in it's normal rotation and I find it easier on the mind.
Anyways, looks like a gorilla face with a hole in its head :-).
TFS
Pierre

Ok, I was all set to demand why you'd rotated such a lovely image. Don't notes make all the difference!!

Very inventive work, I like how your note draws me to view the shot in a completely different way, and focus on the light-and-shadow.

There's no doubt that higher contrast b&w would make the 'mask' even more obvious, but that's not really the point; nicer with the subtlety you have let remain here.

Nice work!

Silke - Made by head turn... well tilt anyway lol
Interesting concept to rotate this, not really sure of the effect
Otherwise, detail created in the shadow of the water is a great find. Nice PP work as outlined.
Like the title as well and your notes . (would you mind if I use your notes?)

Hi Silke
nice idea and same for the photo.
We all have to be 'playfull ' and try new ways but like the others
I think the 'normal' would be best here.
Have a good weekend

John

Hi Silke - An original idea and fine contribution to the theme combined with an inspiring philosophical note. Your image makes me think as it is an unusual mask and not exactly easy to apply, if one wanted to. Well done, my dear, and glad you continue to post! - A good Sunday to Canada, Cordelia :))

Ha!! Very deep - are you telling me that I have wrinkles??? Yes, my heart is young!!!
What an interesting image you've posted for us. I'm getting a stiff neck following the patterns - it's well done Silke. What a super find piece of timber was.
BRAVO!

Hi Silke,
How perfect that all you had to do was rotate to get an image that so obviously represents a mask. Beautiful details in the shot, and a very thought-provoking note. Hmmm, maybe some are uncomfortable if someone peeks behind their mask . . .
Thanks for a creative post,
Karen

A very nice picture Silke. Great reflections and colors here and a real funny composition.
What I really like are the colored pebbles in the water...

Cheers,
Anneke

very superb shot, reflections are so very clear in the water and very unique object and it do resembles a mask in this way. Really cool shot.

Hello Silke

Good symmetry, with a superb reflection, and good idea to rotate the imsge, to accentuate the 'mask' effect. Splendid colour and sharpness. Tfs!

Hi dear friend,
very interesting point of view.
I like the approach and presentation style.
The note is like a glove for this shot.
Have a lovely WE.

This is perfection.

I don't know where Pierre gets the gorilla from, I see a dragon but maybe that is because I am surrounded by dragon ornaments. Deep thoughts in the notes and an interesting image for the theme. TFS,
David

Hello Silke

Absolutley superb I too thought for a moment the image was posted the wrong way around but it soon became clear. Very well seen and captured a very sharp and inventive posting my friend.

TFS and for joining in the them

kind regards Helen

I can see it!! And it reminds me of Batman and Robin!....oh well, I'm not that sophisticated! Really well seen Silke, I would not have seen this one at all. The mask I have on today is my tired mask! HAHA!
