Elvis Aaron Presley. The undisputed King of Rock and Roll. Born Jan. 8, 1935 in the humblest of circumstances in a two room house in Tupelo, MS. His twin brother, Jessie Garon, was stillborn. It is said that Elvis had a connection with his twin brother that haunted him all his life.

He was an international sensation by 1956. He had a style that combined diverse musical influences and blurred and challenged the social and racial barriers of the time. He is responsible for ushering in a new era of American music.

Globally, he has sold over one billion records. More than any other artist. He is still "The King".

Known the world over by only his first name, Elvis is regarded as one of the most important figures of twentieth century pop culture.

He died much too soon at his home, Graceland, in Memphis, TN on August 16, 1977.

These commemorative stamps were issued in his honor in Mempis, TN January 8, 1993.
*********************************************

Tech:
1. Took various macro shots of stamps and special holder.
2. Cropped each selected photo for a collage.
3. Created two stamps from the "Create your own stamps" function in MS DI.
4. Created and painted black canvas and sized for web.
5. Adjusted levels, contrast and brightness on selected photos.
6. used unmasking tool for sharpening.
7. Locked photos on canvas.
8. Added text and logo.

Despite what your feelings are about Elvis, you have to admit he was an amazing young man that changed the history of Rock and Roll. Not to mention the many hearts of all the ladies he set aflutter! Including mine......

May we all have a beautiful and happy New Year and may Love and Harmony abound here at our home in TrekLens........:O)

Kat, I see the King is a favorite of yours. Hope you had a great New Years Eve, and the new year ahead will bring you many joys.
Bea

I love Elvis music.
great picture!!

A wonderful tribute to an eternal American icon. His history shows that in America one can rise to the top if he wants to. I was fortunate enough to have once been a neighbor of Elvis. Thanks for this nostalgic presentation.

Hi Kat, A very well executed montage. Must have taken a lot of work. Well done, Paul.

Very nice collection kat, and a very informative note.

That's it - some of us can never get too much of the King. Once again your little signature heart is in the right place at the right time (and in the right colour). The entire collage has maybe a shade too much of a commercial poster to it - and not quite enough of you. But it's professional enough, so maybe the people running Graceland could use it.

A fun tribute to the King. I like the layout and the view through the loup (?).

Nice artwork, Kat... and you made me learn something new: my mother has the same birthday as the king (but she was born eight years later) ;o). TFS.

"Despite what your feelings are about Elvis,".....mmmmm, that's me you mean !
But, the picture is a very happy and colourful one and that's great. Everyone has his/her own favourite....

Great picture and great Elvis! You know that I like his music and this is a another great Elvis celebration.

Alex

This is true Elvis is the King. Here in Quebec, we have Elvis Gratton, popular but not like Elvis.
Nice picture.
Best regards
Guy
