[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Concorso Italiano is perhaps the most impressive car show in the US, maybe even the world. The cars there range from the most beautiful italian designs in the past to the most futuristic cars made today.

Photographically there are some large challenges to try to get a picture that doesn't look like a snap shot of a row of million dollar cars.

The workshop shows the shot of this Lamborgini and what is clearly shown is the distinctive shape of this car. What is also obvious is that the background and composition of the shot basically make it a snapshot of the car without any artistic value.

I masked out the car and adjusted the light and tones in NIK's Silver Efex Pro. I chose to put the car on a black background to show it's shape and chose to cut off the bottom of the car so that the emphysis could be on the top shape. I also cropped off the back end so that the shape of the roof line would be a smooth arch. I used a lot of negative space on the composition because I thought is looked more interesting. It seemed to me that the car in the lower right corner added some artistic value.

Of course everything is personal preference but showing just part of the artistic shape in this way looked more like art.

I used F2 because I wanted to blur the background to separate the car but this didn't work well since the background was too busy. In this case I could have used any aperture and shutter speed combination because the car was going to be masked out.

Saw this picture and immediately knew that it can only be from you and I tell you this is a simply strong composition, dear Roger!

Great positioning of the sports car within the frame. The negative space works really well in this case. The sharpness and POV are excellent, and contrast is superb.
Well done!

Greetings,
Paras

Roger, I really like this unique presentation from an artist like you of this fantastic sports car.
The completely black BG is complimenting the vehicle and one's attention surely goes on the aerodynamics of the slender bodywork. Nice play with shadows. A great composition!
My best regards,

Francis Xavier

Very unusual but effectively strong composition with great and positive use of the negative space. Good contrast. Very well done, tfs.

Great PS work to create this shot Roger. The contrast and detail is wonderful. Lovely lines and a great subject. I want one. :-) TFS, Lori

Roger

Perfect composition, smart work.
Amazing black bg and pov makes a strong impact, very eye catching.
I like it so much !

Hi Roger,
Really neat shot of this dream car and by placing it where you did in the frame, you have created a very original composition.
The white car against the black background really makes the image pop.
Very nice work & thanks for sharing,
Kurt

Olá Roger
I like a lot the dinamism of car increased by the imense black bg.
It works really well.
i like the car a lot.
Um abraço

Unusual placement, you break 'rules' with successful results at times like this. Solid PP work takes, as you say, a fairly standard shot (the sort we'd see a lot of in TL) and turns it into something eyecatching and original.
