My first picture of Hummingbird, I know I didn't catch him in flight, but in conditions that I had (bad light, without tripod) and with the quickness that they move , it's quite good :-)

Some information about this beautiful bird :-)
The Costa's Hummingbird (Calypte costae) is a species of hummingbird is fairly common in the arid brushy deserts and any nearby gardens of the Southwestern United States and the Baja California Peninsula of Mexico. Is very small, a mature adult growing to only 3 to 3½ inches in length. The Costa's Hummingbird wings beat 70 beats per second and Like all other hummingbird species feeds on flower nectar and any tiny insects that it happens to find in the flower petals.

They are all catching them in flight, with flowers and lots of colors around :)
I like very much this background. And the bird shows such a funny expresion that I almost thought it is your pet.

Im not sure if I have ever seen a hummingbird stood before, this is a great capture, so small and pretty. Love the colours of its feathers, incredible birds.

i like that you didnt catch him in flight...its something different...i always tend to see them in flight either in real life or in photos...although the light is nothing special like you said the DOF and background elements are perfect...great color and detail capture...peace***
