I'd taken my camera out because I'd seen bluebirds flying around, but those little creatures are FAST. I've never gotten a decent shot of one. I spotted this little fellow in a tree next door and he sat there for a long time letting me snap shots of him. I was really surprised to see a baby bird (I guess it was a baby) so late in the winter.

I was using a 300mm lens on macro and I've found if I set my camera menu to sharper, I seem to get better detail. The light was really nice, too, so I guess that helped.

Hi Shelly,
Looks like the little bird is warming him self up with the winter sun. I like his chubby look.
On one hand I like the soft OOF part in this photo, but I think that a slighly smaller aperture would have been more preferd. Some of the edges of the bird became a little OOF as well. You had plenty of shutter speed left to go to F8.

Niek

Hello Shelly!
Very sweet little birs and excellent colours, light, contrast in your picture!

Really lovely background!
Best regards!
Lili

This is really nice Shelly! I love the BLUE in this! Really nice sharpness! The combination of green and blue is really nice here. I'm impressed! It's not easy to hold a 300mm steady enough to shoot birds who are constantly moving! good work!

Hi Shelly
I am not very good at getting shots of birds but I have been watching them for over 20 years and the babies will sit still for a long time while being trained and waiting to be fed.
You got yourself a real nice one, looks great against the background and the eye is really sharp.
Good shot

Hi Shelly,
Superb capture in hard conditions!
I like the colors, the mix of blue and green colors in BG making a good contrast with the gray plumage of this little bird. The focus on the head, especially on the eye is very nicely rendered. Bravo! Annie

VERY NICELY CAPTURED.
GOD BLESS.

Hi Shelly, nice catch. Good light falling on him and sharpness gives more detail. The bird looks beautiful. Well done. Cheers - Adil.

Hi Shelly,

Great capture of the bird, The colors and details are perfect and like the clarity of the bird and the blurred background. Great job Shelly.

Best wishes and regards
Jason.

Nice sharp details and a lovely little catchlight in his/her eye which really brings it to life. Colours are well saturated. Great timing and great capture.
Thanks for sharing
Mark
