[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
We went eagle watching earlier this year, drove in a big loop from our home in St. Louis County, Missouri up through Alton, Illinois to Hardin, Illinois and back. Saw some eagles, but mostly not until we got back to the Missouri side of the Mississippi River in the afternoon. Then there were a dozen or so of those birds perched in a big tree on an island at a bird sanctuary. They were still hard to shoot since they were about a quarter mile away, so I got few even passable shots of them.

When we were driving through Hardin, I noticed this bunch of birds in a farmer's yard - apparently he had recently been goose hunting and had taken them out of his truck and laid them in the grass to dry off.

I hardly did anything to this shot besides a slight crop, framing, re-sizing and sharpening. I have had it on my desktop for quite some time waiting to post, but have always had something other to put up. I figured today was the day.

This photograph in no way reflects my opinion or feelings towards hunting Canada Geese or any other animal - I just thought the decoys made a nice image.

Have a great week!

wow beautiful birds sitting and chilling quitely in a nice sunny day! I really like this composition, a natural feel and good details and light! and I agree with your note... hunting any beautiful element in this world is a crime... beautiful work here and my compliments Reed:)

have a great day and regards:)

I love the composition on this Reed! This would sell in a hunting mag EASY! I like your processing too, very rugged. People down here in the south hunt all the time and see nothing wrong with it. I see nothing wrong with it as long as you EAT what you catch. Shooting for killing sake is ridiculous...cook a goose! he he!

very cute shot. group of birds decoy... I thought it was really a live bird. Your views and feeling toward hunting is well seen. Very nicely composed and nice sharp shot

you could almost take them for real except the way they are resting :-)
Nice composition and colour bg. Well framed also.
Warm regards

Best regards

hi buddy
nice shot from the distance you were away this is grt stuff very natural looking actualy looks like the real thing till you read the note tfs

Hi Reed - Interesting perspective that makes it look like a nature shot. The overturned decoy is perfectly placed. This brings back memories of my youth - my dad was a hunter. Waiting in a cold blind at 5AM was no fun!
