Feast your eyes on the most perfectly marked Barn Owl I have ever observed. Cappuccino is a permenant resident of the TreeHouse Wildlife Center in Brighton IL. The bird was named that because when excited, it sounds like a running cappuccino machine. Not to mention that the colors resembles a cup of the stuff. European Barn Owls look exactly like ones in North America expect their plumage is much lighter.

This guy is is perfect!

Common Barn Owl - Tyto alba

These pale, nearly worldwide, birds are closely associated with man through their traditional use in the Old World of barn lofts and church steeples as nesting sites. Although widely known beforehand, it was in 1769 when the Barn Owl was first officially described by Giovanni Scopoli, an Italian naturalist. The species name "alba" also refers to the colour white.

THIS image rocks. It may be one of my favorites of yours. after seeing other Barn Owls I agree, this one has the best markings. I have even searched online galleries but this one is superior. I like the black BG and the sharpness. The ridge around the face is spectacular. I am amazed by the soundless flight of these birds. I guess the hissing makes up for it!
Great job, I love it.

Wow, stunning bird, this is a great photo, wonderful textures, colors and clarity, the entire photo is right on the mark. TFS.
Happy Easter,

Top marks here - really beautiful bird and you have caught the detail so clearly. Well done

Hi Scott...

Hi Scott :)

Another absolutely stunning bird! Very well captured...so sharp!! Colours are perfect.

Thanks for sharing this beauty!

Hello Scot
The sharpness in this photo and your previous is truly amazing.
Thanks for sharing

WE used to have a 400 acre farm and we had a couple of these owls who lived in the barn I was always very impressed by the beauty and the size of them. This shot is really marvelous a beautiful bird. Owls are my favorite bird I have a collection of them all sizes and kinds thanks so much for sharing this with me and others.

The clarity in this image is amazing Scott. I like the diagonal composition too. I have a similar shot in my portfolio but it doesn't compare to the quality of this one. Great work.

btw...did you use a tripos or was it hand held?
