For Friday's theme- I introduce the "Mexican Male Green Iguana". When I am at my house in Ixtapa, in the morning I will sit on my patio and watch all the critters/birds wake up. This guy lives across the street in the trees. I watch him every morning get up -he takes about 30 minutes to crawl to the highest point where he will sun himself for hours. You can almost set your watch to him. Like many of us- he is a creature of habit.

The native range of the Green Iguana extends from southern Mexico to central Brazil, ParaguayIt grows to 1.5 metres (4.9 ft) in length from head to tail, although a few specimens have grown more than 2 metres (6.6 ft) with bodyweights upward of 20 pounds (9.1 kg).

Have a nice day !

An excellent choice for this weeks theme Julie, great capture of this creatures textures & colouring,I had to smile at its so relaxed pose, even though it does seem to have quite an inquisitive look to its eye.I think its good it likes the outdoors & trees & not the interior of your home:-)

Ciao Julie, great portrait of fantastic monster, splendid light, wonderful bright colors, fine details and splendid sharpness, very well done, my friend, have a good week end, ciao Silvio

Enjoying your little story Juliet , iguanas as all reptiles are cold-blooded , normal for them to rest for hours in the sun , body temperature control i guess . A creature of habit indeed !
Some oe at the top of the head but nothing to deter from the visual impact here , a fine image for the theme , tfs ,
Greetings ,

Hi Julie, a good close up of one a bit bigger than my latest critter.Like the light comiing through the branches onto him. Fiona

Hi Julie, living in the U.K.I cannot imagine waking up and observing a creature like this every morning! And what a size they can grow to!
Excellent close up shot showing us lots of good details.
The orange spines contrast with the bright green leaves and make for an eye catching shot.

I am surprised at how many reptiles have made it into this weeks theme.
Tfs, regards Jean.
