Our last Mexican port was Cabo San Lucas. I had always wanted to visit Cabo since I lived in San Diego back in the 1970's and 80's and I was really into sport fishing. Cabo San Lucas, being at the confluence of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez, is located in one of the very best fishing areas in the world. My wife and I watched boat after boat come in flying their fish flags - some had marlin, dolphin, the occasional blue fin tuna - it made me want to go fishing again. We only had a short time to explore, so taking a boat out was pretty much out of the question for this visit.

I managed to catch a few with the camera, though. Not fish, no, but my fish of choice lately - the image that captures the true day and time and atmosphere. This was a day or so before Thanksgiving day in the US, cold and wintery up north, but warm and nice after a small rainstorm in Cabo.

Of the three ports we visited, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas, I would like to visit Cabo again. Not just for the fishing, but for the totally laid back atmosphere. It was also very clean and beer was cheap!

We did visit Cabo Wabo, Sammy Hagar's restaurant and bar, and the guy managing the Hard Rock Saloon let us call my mother-in-law on his satellite phone just because he was a nice guy. Then we went to a restaurant on the water and had a bucket of beer, some guacamole and shrimp. If you look at the workshop, you can see some new friends we met that day, too!

Hi neighbour,
Perfectly sharp composition ! I like the clouds aligned with the buildings, who give perspective, and the perpendicular wharf + boats who give strong to the picture. Sympa WS ! Well done !
Best regards
Jean

Oh wow, great colorful shot. I was at Cabo once .. but only touched down, had to get off the airplane for an hour or so .. then back on, and home to Canada (from Puerto Vallarta). So this is nothing like the memory I have :)
Great to show the harbour and the boats as well as some of the lovely buildings on shore. Looks like a great place.
(way to do your part and support the local economy!!!)

Hello Reed,

great colourful shot full of details! Nice sharpness, contrast levels and composition. Great work!

Lots of details and bright colors to observe in this photo. The polarizer really brought out the color in the sky. A great point of view and overall composition. TFS

I like this view Reed - f8 has rendered good sharpness throughout, nice compo too with the wider end of the lens.. Nice colour.

Personally I may just employ the dodge tool to lighten up the buildings - they appear to be under the shadow of a cloud - and the boat on the right.. Just my view.

Cheers
DAvid

Hi Reed - Great perspective and beautiful sky. You captured the lighting at a good moment. I like the kitschy titles of the boats!
