One early morning while my wife was still sleeping in at our motel near Sherbrooke i drove out farther into the countryside for some shots of the beautiful landscape , although it started cloudy weather-wise when i left it deteriorated somewhat 30 minutes into my drive as i approached this lake where by the shore fishermen were tackling the fish , it made sense to me then that leaving the security of the shore to fish elsewhere farther away from it was not ideal even dangerous to a certain point for these guys , as rain had been coming down rather lightly by that time , i put a raincoat on and set position on the pier , i found the disposition of this trio of subjects visually interesting from my new found point of view , no one seemed aware of my presence concentred as they were , snapped a few frames there .
In PP i cropped the top out ( the other side of the lake ) keeping the scene to a minimum with no reference other than bring into focus the fishermen surrounded by water, black and white conversion , brightness increased by 30 % ,contrast enhancement , sharpening and a vignette , pocessed in Photoscape .
The tilte incorporates the words ' day of summer ' for this Friday theme launched by Denis( Atomas )yesterday to which i wish to ccntribute this picture , a bit late i confess , saw it on the forum this morning ...
Thanks to all for your appreciated visits today.

Well well Carol what a dramatic composition you have achieved in this shot and choosing B&W is so suitable for your theme, well captured with good sharpness and light is amazing as the rain creates beautiful soft texture on the calm surface water.. wonderful shot...
Best Wihes

Hello Carol

Here is a keeper. I like the hard contrast in the image. the blacks help give punch to the image. A great composition. The pp work creates a classic in the making. Very well done.

Mood is great and so as is the composition, dear Carol!

I like the rings building on the water surface as it rained when you took the shot.
The contrast is superb and a nice drama is added by the cloudy sky.
Well caught!

Best regards,

Hi Carol,
A lovely threesome of these fishermen creating a lovely triangle with their rods!
Perfect contrast in this neat black & white presentation. Great sharpness and a very artistic presentation.
Well done,

Francis Xavier

Nice shot Carol. Great composition. Love the mood and presentation in b&w. Looks almost like the water is sky and they are above the mist. Well done! TFS, Lori

Bonsoir Carol,
Belle prise de vue de ces pêcheurs en Noir & blanc,
joli contraste et lumière,
belle netteté et détails de la pluie qui tombe en profusion.
Belle présentation de ce groupe de pêcheurs..
bonne soirée..

Love this one Carol. A perfect photo to convert to black and white. Its such a stark image with the three sets of fishermen.. they stand out so well in that bright water. Love the rain droplets on the waters surface too. The amount of vignetting you added is about perfect. Subtle, but adds so much to the photo.. well done my friend. :):)
(jazz festival started this weekend... going out tonight... if the rain doesn't scare us home:)

Hi Carol,if it wasnt for the raindrops, the fishermen could be suspended in mid air.Great simple image.Fiona

A humorous observation brilliantly done. All the best Otto.

Fantastic image... this human triangle was very well seen and captured, and is perfectly positioned in the frame. I love the the diffuse light and the b/w tones you got.

Even with several human subject, this image evokes both a sense of calm and loneliness. The triangluar placement of your subjects is very strong and the choice of monochrome sets a detached mood.
Very Well Done

But according to fishermen..."a lousy day fishing always beats a good day at work?" I like the mood on this capture, great pov and dof with nice details. Very well done, tfs.

Hi Carol,
Very nice capture of the fishermen and very pleasing PP work.
The B&W effect works perfectly and really adds drama to the
shot overall. Nice work. TFS.

Hi Carol

Well composed using the principle of 3. I love the luminous quality of the light here. A few raindrops on the water surface3 confirm the weather is less than perfect. Tfs!
