Strange title, isn't it ?

Well the MV Amazoneborg here is shown minutes before she sailed from the icy waters of the Port of Becancour earlier this morning. The tug Ocean Bravo is loosening the ice around the vessel to facilitate the departure of the freighter.

Dull grey day this morning . So I opted to convert it to Black and white.

This one is to commemorate the first Gold medal of the Netherlands at the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. New Olympic record for Sven Kramer at the 5000 m Speed skating long track. Congratulations to the new Olympic Champion.

Enjoy the games everybody !

PS. I am on duly for the next week. but will do my best to visit the site as often as possible.

Hi Robert,

Beautiful grey scene, the ice is twice as cold in B&W, a good choice for this very well composed photo. I can almost hear the ice crunch.

Bonsoir Robert,
Fantastique B&W! Bravo! Annie

Hi Robert,
Nice B&W convertion and nice POV. Unbelievable quantity of ice, amazing. Not a good time for a swim. Great sharpness and DOF.
Are you a sailor?
Have a great Sunday

Bonsoir Robert,
Excellent cliché en noir & Blanc,
jolie présentation et superbe contraste,
Excellent POV./DOF. bien composé avec brio..
C'est excellent ....

Hello Robert!

At least the title is original. :) I think you made an excellent choice in B&W. This looks scary to me Robert. I just couldn't do it. You're a brave man.

Very sharp, nice composition; I like it!

Please be careful on duty!

A very nice tribute to the first Gold Metal of the Netherlands. The games are great, and I hope to watch some of them. I missed the opening ceremony. :(

Take care my friend, and be careful!

Hi Robert,
A great black and white photo with superb contrast and sharpness. It really allows me to concentrate on the details and have no distraction from any bright color.
I like the moment you have frozen a lot. It shows the movement of the boat with the ice building up on the port side of the boat.

As a Dutchmen, I would like to thank you for the dedication of this photo to 'our' Sven Kramer. It was a epic race to see and a wonderful victory for Sven. Let's hope the 10K will be kind to him as well.

Hi Robert,
Good to see your post! Excellent winter scene perfect sharpness, brightness and contrast. The dull grey sky enhances the details of both ships. The presentation in the bolt white frame is awesome.

Hi Robert,
also very impressive in black/white - but I love the sunny coloured shots more.
I'm always astonished how such a small ship can break the ice, we can see it here very well, that's fantastic.
Thanks and have a nice day

Hi Robert,
an interesting topic. and more special compared to what we see on the TL.
Excellent POV, details and beautiful colors.
your idea to us a new play and this particular picture. Thank you.
Have a good Sunday,

P.S. Unfortunately I do not have smiley for today. I hope you do not mind.

hello Robert,
A great harbour shot and really poignant in B/W.
very nice compo, contrast and detail.
Well presented as per your usual style.
I really like how you frame and present your shots. You have a real flair for presentation.

Hello Robert,
Thank you for this beautiful action photo
and the link to the Amazoneborg.
Have a good and safe work week!
t.f.s.and greetings,

Bonsoir Robert :o)

Bonne semaine

Hi Robert,
Well i am doing all i can to find a single flaw here but i am afraid i 'll have to move on somewhere else ,he he , great shot with full respect to rule of thirds , with regard to your choice of medium and above all i am impressed by the first-rate clarity of this image, i also appreciate your clicking at a moment when the tug has drifted away from the big one so both now stand clear and visible on their own plan , an excellent composition my friend,
