[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I've been relatively inactive on TL because I've gone back to school. One of my courses is practical theology and on this day, we had a crash course in how to do weddings. Steve Hoffard is a second year M. Div. student, studying to become a pastor. He was "volunteered" to be the bride for this session.
This is my favourite for several reasons.
1) I am not comfortable in front of the camera, so I am careful about taking pictures of people - this morning was so full of love and laughter that we all lost our inhibitions (Thanks Jon!)
2) It's whacky, off-kilter, cock-eyed and makes me smile
3) The subject himself likes it
4) It sums up for me the joy of the past several months

Tech: Backlit by the morning sun streaming in through the glass walls of the baptistry, so I used fill-in flash, bounced off the white ceiling; captured in raw, adjusted saturation and contrast, converted to jpeg, added luminance, cropped a little off the bottom to eliminate the lettering on Steve's shirt, reduced wrinkles only slightly by using healing wand and then reducing effect by 50%, resized, sharpened edges, framed and signed

Thanks for looking, for your suggestions for improvement and Happy New Year everyone

Hi Silke,
LOL!I like the seriousness and conciousness from the model.
That's a portrait very well done from the tecnichal point of view and at same time a vivid and joyful scene.
Best wishes,

Hi Dear Silke:)
Nice to see you finally here:):):)
It is good idea for theme - picture makes me smile but also this is like intelligent humor.
One thing bothers me... window frame behind Steve... oh well this is just small problem. The best of all is his face expression:):):)
Good work my friend.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Silke, this made me smile too.
Your reasons for selecting this shot are interesting and quite valid.I too am not too fond of having my photo taken but Steve looks very comfortable in front of the lens.
The light seems perfect.

Happy New Year.
Best wishes Jean.

Hello Silke,

It is lovely to see you posting again and what an appealing shot! At first, I thought you had been on a film set!!
I like the humour, but also the sharpness, the composition and the dof, which are all well judged.

All the best,
Bev :-)
