I was lucky to finally get a stormy day, it was so windy it was even difficult standing still for the shot and even harder to keep the lens dry.

Applied HDR to a single photo and did the usual resize and sharpen.

Awesome work Paul! Can you share how did you did HDR to single picture..

I really love the way it looks. I think, even little noise is adding to the entire mood

Only thing which come to my mind is probably rule of third could have been advantageous while composing the horizon. Anyhow its awesome!

Nicely done, Paul :)

You captured a moment with a great dramatic feel woven into its look and texture, and that is skilled work. It reminds me of a painting. Wonderful sharpness and clarity of detail. I like your use of line, all the levels of gray in this image, and the benches, with the wave sweeping over what looks like it may be another bench in the far corner.

Excellent execution here.

Congrats!
Jim

Bonsoir Paul,
Quelle superbe capture! J'adore la courbe de la vague qui vient se briser contre le quai.
Tu as contrôlé la technique du HDR avec beaucoup de maîtrise ici! Le rendu des couleurs accentue l'effet dramatiqueo de la scène. Du travail de pro! Bravo! Annie

Very nice dark colours,
Thanks for joining the theme

more than impressive!
I don't understand a lot about HDR and try it but with bad results... so your "pseudo HDR" is to try! if you have more information about it.. thanks!
just a normal BW cann also give a good result?

hi paul
very impressive image, the hdr effect really works on this stormy scene very good detail.

Hi Paul,
Your capture show just how "angry" water can look..Nice pp work on the HDR effect...

Tricia

Hello Paul!
Excellent HDR image!
You catch a right moment!
Fantastic stormy atmosphere!
Best regards!
Lili

Hello Paul,

That sounds like an interesting programme! I must investigate!

You photograph is great for its impression of dynamic movement; I can amost hear the wind blowing and waves crashing, and see the spume flying!
Your pov, with the corner of the prom presenting the obstacle to the waves, works really well.
The subdued colours are perfect for the mood.
You have pixelation in the sky which can easily be removed, just using your blur tool. However, the mood of the shot is strong enough not to allow this imperfection to affect its appreciation.

Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Hello Paul, I like the effect that you have created with your PP work. And I like all the grey tones.
Lovely movement in the crashing waves.

Tfs, regards Jean.

hello Paul,
What a stormy shot with drama, mood and an angry sea espressing itself. You captured the moment well.
Interesting use of single shot HDR.
have a good WE.

Quel mer déchainée !! Quelle vague !!!
ça me plait beaucoup, c'est apaisant comme vue.

WOW Paul,

Great capture, excellent HDR processing to get movie like tones.

Buenísimo efecto muy gráfico y muy interesante...saludos

Hello Paul!

This is the first time I've visited your gallery. I'm impressed! It looks like you've been around a while though. Why don't you post more photos?

When I saw this photo, I recognized the DHR effect. I'm a big fan of HDR! I thought Dynamic Photo was very user friendly, but I finally decided on Photomatix. I like it, but I must say that I haven't created the look I want yet. I also use Paint Shop Pro X2 for pseudo HDR. I have CS4, but don't know how to produce a single photo HDR with this yet.

Anyway, excellent look here! I like it a lot. Great detail and composition! An interesting photo and a level horizon. ;)

Thanks for sharing!

Dennis

Hi Paul..excellent shot..great feeling of the power of the water... nice work.

Roger

Hi Paul,
Glad to see you again on TL !
Dramatic scene, with those foamy wild waves and the cloudy sky. I almost feel the water drops on my face....Excellent capture and atmosphere.
TFS,
Andreea

Thank you for always sharing your learnings with us. Yes, HDR seems to bring this to life. The near duo tone and noise gives it a timeless quality. TFS. Karin

Superb capture and nice treatment :)
