Day 3 - Time 19:22 hrs

Not sure if this one suits today's theme. Anyway, the Story behind this one (^_^)

After a great day of trekking at the Bic National Park we headed back to the Mange-Grenouille Inn for a shower and a great romantic dinner. Once again the place was crowded ( in nearby Rimouski , a Jazz Festival was going on too during our long labour Day week-end )

We had our reservation for 1900 hours. I did not feel like bringing my camera after shooting most of the day. Martine was a bit disappointed. We were sitting next to the windows at the ideal spot, to enjoy the view of the sunset over the bay and Bic National Park Islands. Martine was facing the sun setting while I was turning my back to it . As we were exploring the menu , Martine asked me to have a look at the scenery …..

Next thing , I rushed to the room to get my camera (^_^). Well over the next 30 minutes , I went out four times on the balcony , and took 77 shots…. Here is one of them. This one was among the last bunch I took after the sunset, I could have continued with my tripod and longer expositions but,……… I did not think Martine would have appreciated that option ( LOL !)

Now, I have to confess, I was not alone. At one point we were eight men and women on the balcony shooting (^_^). Eight broken couples ( LOL !) . Note, however , we were just ordering our meals , and getting the appetizers, so it was not that bad to all our lovely partners.

So I titled the frame with the Inn's name as it was the actual view from its balcony and dining room. However , here we actually see Bic National Park. In the center Ile Brûlée and the flat island in the bakground is Bic Island itself. We have a glimpse of the North shore too which is 40 km across the river.

Technically : Image uncropped.

ASA 200 Exposition Compensation: -2/3

I kept on purpose open sky above the stripe of clouds to show the wide range of colours and tones. Too bad it was low tide. It did provide interesting textures to the half dry bay. But imagine the reflections at high water…….
Beside that the usual routine for resizing and framing.

Have a great week-end everybody !

Martine & Robert

PS. We are heading to meet a TL colleague tomorrow in Martine’s hometown. I will get back with more details. I might post early tomorrow before leaving , and come back only late Sunday night. Cheers!

Bonjour Robert,
Annie

Hi Robert

Amazing colours and perfect composition.

What set me thinking however is the very bright orange colours after I saw on Spaceweather.com that this may also have been caused by the eruption of a volcano in Alaska that "spit" a lot of miniscule sulphur particles into the air at about the same time that your photo was taken. I just thought that it may aslo be of interest to you since you guys in that part of the globe were fortunate to see this.

Olá, Robert!

Parabéns pela excelente imagem! Você conseguiu belas cores, um cenário com bonitos detalhes e nitidez. Com certeza, um belíssimo trabalho!! Obrigado por compartilhar!!

All I can say is WOW!
Simply stunning colors, reflection or not/high tide or low tide the texture is beautiful.
I think I would have opted to crop off the band of brightness at the top that you chose to leave.

Halo Robert.
Nice multi-textured post. The lighting and reflections have good exposure. Nice diagonal lead on the river to the bigger water.
I like the post better than the title as the title has a totally different meaning for me.
TFS. Karin

Interesting, glass like rendering. The colours are exquisite - a backdrop for the shapes in silhouette. I like the fine detail in the middle ground. It reminds me of a rock song with words to the efect of "the sun sets in a septic sky..." Now there's a metaphor :)
