in many ways.....

First, A big hello to all . I know this year I am not very active on the site. Perhaps too many things are keeping me away from posting critiques and workshops. Therefore I do not upload shots either even if I am still active in shooting.I simply do not have as much time to write to you.

Last week-end , I went again to the Canadian Formula 1 GP in Montreal. It was a great occasion to meet friends and our estimated colleague Mario Bélanger . It was indeed an historic GP for him as well. As Mario is attending in person since 1978 at the Grand Prix . He witnessed many great races. For this 30th edition in Montreal, he received an accreditation as an official photographer. So we did not see him often during the weekend. Starting on Thursday he joined the gang of photographers shooting everything that move in the paddock, in the press conferences, and on track. You will surely see a few of his images in the coming weeks.

This year, I was fortunate to work with a new camera, that Martine bought me for my 50th birthday anniversary ( coming in a few weeks ). She gave it to me earlier, in order to get it for the GP. So it was my first opportunity to work with it . I realized I will need to improve a lot to work efficiently with this more sophisticated gear.

About this one. Well my pick won the race (^_^). Robert Kubica is shown here in the Senna curve just after he passed the chequered flag. Look at the map to see the site of the circuit. Of course it is a temporary circuit. therefore the grandstands are missing (^_^) on this aerial shot.

Headlines on F1-Live.

Hats off specially after his crash of last year. Robert is the fourth driver to score his first victory in Montreal;
2007 GP was the year for Lewis Hamilton ; 1989 GP was Thierry Boutsen and finally 1978 GP was Gilles Villeneuve's first on the inaugural event.

First One-Two as well for Team BMW. honestly glad it happened in Montreal. It was a great race. Again the Grand Prix was spectacular.

Technically . I have now a 75-300 lens. Since it is now 12.5 megapixels, I have a bit more flexibility. Here I cropped the shot that I took at maximum zoom to get a closer view on Robert.

Congratulations Robert ! and Mario !!!! for this 30th Historic Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.

Hello Robert.
Great picture of Robert. It wasn't surprising that himself and Nick were the fastest two. They were in hurry because they wanted to watch football (soccer) match in the euro2008 tournament Poland vs. Germany.
I like your tight crop and big frame. good sharpness and colours.

Robert it is always a treat to see your work when ever time allows. Congrats on the new toys - It is truly amazing what this new hardware can do. Oh yes and a happy 50 when ever that officially occurs. Well done here - colors spot on - cropped to a good composition - shutter speed stopped him in his tracks.

Fast shot :) It must be hard to photograph bolide in action, I assume it is easier shot it at the end. Interesting capture and frame (maybe to narrow).

Thanks for chosen compatriot to shot. It was really historical and great race. Last year he had very dangerous crash in Montreal, so it id double victory.

Hi Robert,
You were very brave to tolerate that incredible heat and humidity on Sunday!
This is a wonderful colourful picture. Amazing sharpness and details, nice bright colours.

Excellente capture.
Et félicitation pour la nouvelle caméra.
Bien vu

Oh Yes! Was waiting excitedly for a posting from you on the race - and you've come up with a beauty.

The tight crop and the clenched fist are great features of this image. Lovely and sharp - just a very professional shot and a wonderful note to accompany it. Have fun with your new equipment ;-)

Good tight crop Robert - wow, aren't they tightly squashed in their seat with all that padding around them. It's a wonder they can see.

Excellent capture and cropping! It seems that you manipulate your new gear very well : )

Hi Robert,

Nice one attending the race and even nicer to meet the legendary Mario :-). Thirty years. Wow...

I do like the tight crop, but there is a bit of purple on some of the edges of the white. But nothing to worry about too much.

Hi Robert,

Excellent use of your new material. You will show the world that you don't need the most expensive equipment to obtain most excellent results. But you do need an excellent photographer.

Looking forward to more action photos.

Hello Robert,
