With the white snow gradually melting away to make way for summer gardening,it is nice to look forward to the many kinds of blooms to expect over the warm months to come. This Gladiolus is often a background favorite in garden landscaping because of the tall flowered spikes that rise above the border flowers. On the downside, the Glads needs some tutored support to avoid collapsing under the weight of the heavy bloomed top. There are over 200 varieties that come in many colours to suit most tastes.
This is not really a macro shot but rather a cropping of a larger photo.I just liked the soft, subtle and almost sensual tones hidden within this shaded bloom.

Wonderfull Derek. Very soft, romatic and sensual. A very plesant natrual light. There could be more structure in the petals but then i beleive you would lose the sensuality in the picture. It is in a way the undefined, what we can't really see, that makes this picture special.

Wonderful shot, Derek. soft colors and textures, looks like a watercolor paint. Very well done.

I like the soft focus effect, especially with an white flower. I've never seen a gladiolus this close before, and I also grow them. I'd better pay more attention to their beauty next time.

Soft, kind, sensual, something very pure, life, love...this are some words that came to my mind when looking at the picture! Well done, i like it a lot!

Hi Derek. I like this one alot. The soft pastel tones are nice. The framing really works well on this one.

Excellent macro Drek. I really like the simplisity together with the strong composition in this picture. the soft colours contributes the white very well. Great picture.

Oh! The light gives tones very sweet, I like very much this composition. Happy to see you also on TL.

Oh la la! La lumière donne des tons très doux, j'aime beaucoup cette composition. Heureuse de vous voir aussi sur TL.

Lovely work Derek!
First I must say you made a great work of the list around the picture. It frames perfectly the tender play of round shapes & soft colours.

Nice! It is a little reminiscent of Georgia O'Keeffe's paintings.
